Architect Alvar Aalto also had a distinguished career as a lamp designer. Aalto's lamps often arose from individual construction project. Many models were further adapted and developed for serial production. Artek's production includes several original designs dating from 1937 to 1959. The basic shape of the shade of floor lamp A811 is similar to that of the lamp designed for the corridors of the head office building of the National Pensions Institute. Floor lamp A811 is offered with a white painted louvered steel shade and either polished brass or nickel upper part. Base and stand are covered with black leather and includes a 98" L black plastic cord.
