Polder Sofa Leather

polder sofa leather
Design Hella Jongerius, 2005
Wood frame, leather, natural buttons
Made in Germany by Vitra

With the quiet irony typical for her work, Hella Jongerius named her new sofa for Vitra, Polder. In Holland, Polder refers to the artificial land reclaimed from the sea by means of dykes and drainage canals. The body of the Polder sofa is just as low-lying, just as flat, and has just as much emphasis on the horizontal as does the Dutch landscape.

In the leather version of the Polder sofa, the composition of the fabric sofa is changed in various ways. For versions with dark brown nappa leather, the multicolor principle is applied to the buttons and quilted seams - either vibrantly and expressively in bright reds and oranges, or neutrally in discreet natural color tones. By contrast, in an elegant white version the Polder sofa boasts a composition of different qualities of leather in fine-tuned whites, emphasized by white mother of pearl buttons and turquoise seams. With classic luxurious leather covers and striking details, the Polder sofa combines eternal values with a fresh contemporary touch.

The Polder sofa leather is available in your choice of three color options. You can also pick the postition of the armrest. When facing the sofa the armrest can be placed on the left or the right side. The Polder sofa is also available with fabric in various sizes and colors.
